Description

Step back in time: when life was simple and the people were not only your neighbors, but also your friends. It was an era when people worked from dawn to dusk and had to rely on one another. These early settlers were strong and rugged, yet generous and loving.

In this exceptional one-hour documentary you can relive the early days of Texas and the pioneer struggle for life. Much of this program was filmed at Heritage Village Museum in Woodville, using The Tyler County Heritage Society as historical consultant.

Everyday pioneer life has been authentically recreated, from family life in a log cabin to farming, plowing, blacksmithing, hunting and working with cattle. This historical documentary gives a real feeling for the flavor and character of the times. There’s church life and baptisms, a one-room schoolhouse and a visit to an old-time general store. You’ll visit with the pioneer women as they wash clothes in a creek and you’ll go with the men as they cut down trees to build their hand-hewn barn.

However, there is one thing to consider, you may get so entranced with reliving this pioneer experience that you may not want to come back to the present.
